Aspiring Starlink customers have until June 25 to take advantage of an ongoing promotion that provides free dishes in exchange for a one-year commitment to the satellite internet service. Starlink began offering this deal in April for residential customers only, but recently updated its website to announce the deal would come to an end in the latter half of June.

This offer only appeared in select states, excluding areas around major cities that don’t have excess network capacity. It’s in the same areas where Starlink previously offered a $200 regional savings discount on dishes, which the company often deploys in regions with excess capacity. Buyers can find out if they qualify for the 12-month commitment program by entering their address on Starlink's website.

Meanwhile, Starlink also balances its service in congested areas by charging a one-time congestion charge, in some markets as high as $500

The deal doesn’t apply to Roam plans. Buyers who sign up for a Residential or Residential Lite plan cannot change their service address during the 12-month commitment period. Cancelling service, changing plan type, failing to pay your bill, or canceling within 30 days and not returning the dish will result in a change fee. The fee varies depending on location.

It’s the most affordable Starlink has ever been for U.S. customers, as long as they remain committed to the service for 12 months. A good deal for buyers who were turned off by the pricey upfront cost.

The biggest downside is the possibility of unforeseen circumstances, such as a customer’s sudden need to move or cancel service for financial reasons. Like many internet service plans that require a commitment, there is a bit of risk associated with the deal.
