Starlink has revamped its residential satellite internet plans with new names, a new tier, and new extras for more value. In addition to renaming its Residential and Lite plans to Residential MAX and Residential 200 Mbps, respectively, it has reintroduced a 100 Mbps plan in select regions for $50 per month. All three plans include unlimited data.

In addition, Starlink has also enhanced its introductory Roam plan with more data for longer use.

More benefits for customers who take Starlink to the MAX

Residential MAX is said to deliver the best possible download speed in customers' areas, with Starlink claiming up to 400+ Mbps. A free Mini router boosts the plan to act as a Wi-Fi mesh for your home.

The most significant addition to MAX is an optional free Starlink Mini rental. Upon checking out with the Residential MAX plan and the Standard dish, customers will receive an email to get the Mini rental. Additionally, those customers can activate the Mini with Roam plan at a 50 percent discount—$25 per month for the 100GB plan (more on this below) and $82.50 per month for the Unlimited plan. Since it's a rental, if a customer cancels or changes their plan, they'll be required to return the Mini to Starlink.

The Residential 200 Mbps is the same as the Lite plan, retaining its $80 per month price point and max speed. As with the Lite, the plan is only available in select areas with excess network bandwidth.

Double the data for Roam's $50 plan, and a possible new bundle on the horizon

Starlink Roam 50GB just doubled in size for 100 percent more value for the mobile internet starting plan. It's now Roam 100GB, but still retains its $50 per month rate. The more affordable data-capped plan is popular among customers who use their Starlink for brief periods, such as a long-weekend camping trip or a work trip.

However, another notable change to the plan that may disappoint some users is that additional data is no longer available for purchase. Instead, after the allotted 100GB is used within the pay period, the plan will switch to an unlimited low-speed mode, similar to Standby Mode. It will allow basic functionality such as email and messaging, but it's not viable for streaming, gaming, or video calls. If data is used up frequently, Starlink recommends switching to its Unlimited Roam plan, which costs $165 per month.

What is Starlink Mini X?

A new bundle has been added to Starlink's website, and although it's only available in a few select countries, it's possible it could come to the U.S. The Mini X bundles the Starlink Mini with the Router Mini. A Mini bundled with a router indicates that, if released in the U.S., Starlink may allow the Mini to be used on Residential plans, as it is in certain international markets.
