Best Viasat deals this month
Best Viasat deal
Starting at $69.99 a month and later increasing to $199/99 after the promotional period, the Viasat Choice 50Mbps/100GB plan provides some of the highest value of any satellite plan in terms of data and download speed per dollar spent. Although Viasat offers more expensive plans for satellite internet, it also provides decent speeds without breaking the bank.
Best Viasat discount
Customers who sign up for Viasat’s 100Mbps/500GB plan not only get the fastest plan available from geostationary satellite internet, they also get a whopping $100 off their monthly bill for the first three months. The 500 GB data cap is extremely generous as well, and if you manage to blow through that much, fear not. You have access to unlimited standard (slowed) data thereafter, so you won't be without internet access.
Viasat Internet-only specials
Until January 6, 2023, Viasat is offering a $300 Visa prepaid card* and up to $300 off select plans. This is about as big as internet discounts get, so if you’ve been on the fence about getting satellite internet, now is a good time to take the plunge.
*Visa® prepaid card promotion offer not available in all locations. You must mention this ad to receive offer if ordering service by calling Viasat or through an authorized Viasat retailer. Offer only valid from October 19, 2022 until January 6, 2023, and only available to new customers who order the Silver 45 GB or Gold 65 GB service plans or any other service plan with 150 GB or 300 GB of High-Speed Data. Offer is not available with any other service plans. What’s the best Viasat plan?
If you chose Viasat for the speed, the best choice is its Choice 100Mbps/300 GB plan, which offers speeds up to 100 Mbps. This is among the fastest speeds available for satellite internet and Viasat’s fastest option. It’s certainly not a cheap option, but it gives you speeds that compete with many types of wired internet connection, which, for many people, is well worth the cost.
If you’re trying to balance speed and cost, a better option might be the Choice 50 Mbps/100 GB plan. It still offers faster speeds than other rural options, but at a significantly lower monthly cost than the Choice 100 Mbps/300 GB. The Choice 50 Mbps/100 GB plan gives you speeds up to 50 Mbps, which is enough for most online activities, including streaming video.

Viasat offers a number of business internet plans with both unlimited and metered data options. Business plans generally cost more than residential plans, so they’re not a great choice for home internet. If you are running a business, though, features like a persistent IP address and priority connection might be worth the additional cost.
Among business plans, unlimited plans by far offer the best value, as metered data adds up very quickly. If your business has incredibly low data needs, you might save a bit of money with a metered plan, but make sure you do the math to double-check or you could have a very unpleasant monthly bill.
Viasat bundle packages
Visasat offers an additional voice-over-IP (VoIP) service called Viasat Voice as an add-on service to your internet plan. This allows you to make phone calls over your internet connection without using up your normal internet data. The service costs an additional $35.00 per month, but you can get a $10 promo so you only pay $25 a month for the first three months.
There are also other VoIP and Wi-Fi phone services that you can use to make phone calls over your Viasat connection, but using these services will count against your monthly data caps. For more information about Viasat’s VoIP service, check out our Viasat VoIP review.
Viasat prices and fees
Viasat installation fees
Viasat offers free professional installation with its internet service, which gives it by far the lowest upfront cost of any satellite provider. Installing a satellite dish is a pretty involved process, and professional installation is usually the only option. So Viasat’s free installation makes switching providers much easier compared to HughesNet or Starlink.
Viasat equipment fees
At just $5.00 per month, Viasat’s equipment fees are very low, which is a big selling point for a plan with a long-term contract. Additional data, on the other hand, is relatively expensive, so it’s important not to underestimate the amount of data you use when choosing a data plan. The ability to get more high-speed data can still be very helpful at times, but if you’re paying for additional gigabytes every month, you’d probably save money by choosing a plan that gives you more data to begin with.
Viasat ACP (formerly Viasat EBB)
Viasat participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), the successor to the Emergency Broadband Benefit that began during the pandemic. Qualifying households can save up to $30 on their monthly bill, which makes a considerable dent in it, even with some of the more expensive plans.
How much Is Viasat per month?
Viasat residential plans start at $69.99, plus equipment fees. With Viasat’s fastest plan, your bill will start at $299.99, unless you get one of the promos above to take the price down for a few months first.
Satellite internet is one of the most expensive connections around, and in many rural areas, it’s the only option available. One of Viasat’s biggest strengths is that it has a huge range of plans, from some of the cheapest satellite options, to some of the most expensive. This gives rural customers the ability to weigh the pros and cons of different plans, rather than settling for a one-size-fits-all solution.
Business plans range from $80 to $500 per month, though the low cost of the metered plans is a bit deceptive, as that’s not factoring in any additional data.
How to save on Viasat Internet
The best way to save on Viasat internet is to be very picky about the details of the internet package you choose. Viasat does occasionally have deals and special offers for new customers, but for saving money in the long run, you need a plan that will meet your needs without having to purchase extra data on a regular basis.
Another tip is to take advantage of programs like the ACP that can give you additional monthly discounts. Depending on which plan you choose, the ACP could cut a significant amount off your monthly bill.
Viasat internet and deals FAQ
How much is Viasat WiFi a month?
Viasat plans’ monthly cost ranges from $50.00 to $199.99. These plans also come with a six month promotional period, during which you get a discount to your monthly bill.
Is Viasat unlimited WiFi?
All Viasat plans come with a set amount of high-speed data. Once that data runs out, you can still connect, but at a lower speed. If you run out of data before the end of the month, you can purchase additional data, which will bring your download speed back up to your plan’s usual speeds.
Is Viasat worth the money?
Viasat offers the highest internet speeds available with traditional geostationary satellites, though it comes at a premium. If speed is important to your choice of connection, then Viasat is definitely worth it. If cost is a more important factor in your choice, you can probably find better deals elsewhere, but at much lower speeds.
Does Viasat have free installation?
Yes, Viasat offers free professional installation.
