If you're new to Starlink and you live in a qualifying area, you can start for as little as $29 per month. Also, look out for free installation and a free Starlink Mini rental.
Starlink Drops Prices Further: New $29/Month Promotion Hits Select Residential Areas

The Starlink Standard kit has seen several price drops and temporary discounts over the past year. Now it's the most inexpensive it's ever been in the U.S. | Image by Starlink
Starlink has historically been a high-speed internet solution for customers in rural areas, but it has come at a premium price. However, 2026 has seen Starlink offering aggressive promotions to grow its customer base, the latest of which makes it the most affordable it's ever been. New Starlink customers can get a subscription for as low as $29 per month for the first three months of service. The deal is available until June 4.
Here is everything you need to know about the current promotion and why Starlink has been so generous with its promotions lately.
What's the deal?
This new discount applies to buyers in select regions, typically those where Starlink has excess capacity. Unfortunately, Starlink doesn't disclose where the promotion applies and requires buyers to enter their address on its website to see if they qualify. The promotion is typically paired with its free dish rental, so you only need to pay for shipping.
The $21 discount applies to all Residential plans for the first three months of service, after which it reverts to its normal price.
- Residential 100Mbps:
$50$29/mo. - Residential 200Mbps:
$80$59/mo. - Residential MAX:
$120$99/mo.
In many locations, Starlink is also offering home installation, in some cases for free. This is a newer add-on to Starlink purchases and is typically done through a local, third-party service.
Furthermore, the Residential MAX plan still retains the free Starlink Mini rental, giving customers access to two dishes.
This discount applies only to brand-new customers and a single service account. Also, if you change your plan or suspend your account during the six-month period, you’ll lose the promotional rate.
Why the shift toward deep discounts?
The evolving satellite internet landscape is likely the main driver behind Starlink's push to attract more customers. As it expands its fleet of satellites, pushing past 10,000 low Earth orbit spacecraft, it can offer more capacity to areas that were previously crowded with Starlink users. In most cases, Starlink balances its capacity by offering these discounts in areas with excess and tacking on a "congestion fee" to locations that are near full capacity.
Thanks to its growing constellation and special permissions from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Starlink has been expanding its capacity to more and more areas. This has allowed it to remove congestion fees and continue growing its customer base as the competitive landscape begins to change.
Amazon Leo is a satellite internet provider from the retail giant that uses technology similar to Starlink, promising to deliver high-speed internet with just a small dish. It’s also repeatedly stated that it's committed to offering services by the end of 2026. Wireless 5G internet plans have also become more widely available and offer discounted rates to customers of their mobile services. Starlink aims to maintain its lead of 10 million global users before competitors fully enter the LEO (Low Earth Orbit) market.
SpaceX is also preparing for a large IPO, in which shares will finally be available to investors and the company can raise capital. SpaceX likely wants to grow its user base as much as possible to make its IPO more attractive to investors.
