Starlink is going heavy-duty, with the release of a new version of its high-performance dish built with durability in mind. The new Performance dish became available on Starlink’s website on June 3 for $1,999 for both Roam and Business customers. Starlink claims the dish is capable of achieving speeds of up to 400Mbps and is manufactured to operate in extreme environments.

The new Performance dish is the successor to the Flat High-Performance dish and boasts several design improvements to enhance durability. The dish is meant to entice customers who are bringing their dish with them into the elements.

Just like the Flat High-Performance dish, the new Performance dish is best paired with a Starlink Priority plan to get the best possible performance. Like all current-gen dishes, it can also connect to the Starlink network while moving.

A Starlink dish built to last

Starlink claims the Performance dish is meant to last 10 years of operations, and comes with a 3-year warranty. Not only does it have improved water and dust resistance, but it’s housed in a powder-coated aluminum enclosure to protect it from heavy impacts like hail or high drops. It’s also designed to withstand aggressive vibration and shock, ensuring it survives being mounted on off-road vehicles. Starlink also claims it’s more resistant to corrosive saltwater environments, making it better suited for boats.

Additionally, the Performance dish uses less power than the previous generation and comes with an advanced power supply that both AC and DC connections can power.

Starlink touted the Performance dish’s durability by sharing a video of it on a SpaceX drone ship as a Falcon 9 rocket landed next to it with a fiery touchdown, with it seemingly unharmed.

Starlink’s line of high-performance dishes has typically been marketed for business use. With the new durable Performance dish, Starlink hopes it will be effective for agricultural and construction applications.

Faster Starlink speeds on the horizon

Speeds up to 400Mbps are the fastest Starlink has publicized so far, but it has ambitions for even speedier internet that can compete with fiber providers. Starlink also updated its site with a tease of gigabit speeds coming in 2026, first with service plan upgrades for the Performance dish.

Starlink officials have spoken before that their goal with more launches and new technology is to achieve more than one gigabit per second download speeds for customers worldwide.
